L’Appartement du Progrès was an important exhibition conceived by Marc Peridis, the creative force behind experimental design hub, 19 Greek Street. An installation about progress and sustainability in the form of a curated living space. Carefully curating an edit of finely crafted design pieces, ‘L’Appartement’ challenged the myth that conscious, charitable and sustainable design must always sacrifice style. It drew together up-cycled chairs by Nina Tolstrup, pieces from Marni’s 100 chairs made through a charity program for Colombian ex-convicts, pieces by UK charity Out of the Dark, cabinets made from recycled newspaper by VIJ5 and sustainable pieces by Diane Simpson.

Founded by Marc Peridis in 2012, 19 Greek Street was conceived as a gallery, but also an interior design studio and workshop. Best known for marrying advanced processes and technology with restored and upcycled ‘objets trouvés’, Peridis carefully curates exhibitions of eccentric, colourful and eclectic objects, each with an interesting story.
